About Singapore

Singapore—known variously as the “Lion City” or “Garden City,” the latter for its many parks and tree-lined streets—has also been called “instant Asia” because it offers the tourist an expeditious glimpse into the cultures brought to it by immigrants from all parts of Asia.

Today, it is one of the richest countries in the world with a developed successful market economy, which is characterized by a favorable business environment, the absence of corruption, and a loyal tax policy. Life in Singapore especially attracts Scandinavian people. Many come to work and build an Asian career.

Singapore is among the 20 smallest countries in the world, with a total land area of only 682.7 square kilometers. The United States is about 15,000 times bigger. The red of Singapore’s flag represents universal brotherhood and equality of man while the white symbolizes purity and virtue.
